Why Choose Mama Farm for CoMPANY Events

By having your company event at Mama Farm, you are supporting our environmentally friendly mission to conserve land, use regenerative agriculture to produce food and our animal sanctuary of heritage breed sheep, goats, chickens, turkeys and ducks.  Mama Farm is a 5-acre regenerative farm in Brookhaven, New York (60 miles from Manhattan), that is surrounded by conserved woodland, protected by a conservation easement in partnership with the Peconic Land Trust. Our land is cultivated utilizing regenerative techniques which includes frequent soil testing and amendments with nature based, non-toxic amendments such as rock dusts, compost tea, fish oils, clays and more. We also create and extensively use our own compost, which is supplemented with wood chips from dead trees to increase the soil’s mycelial properties.  The crops grown on our land are cultivated by Farmer Patty Gentry. We do not use any kind of pesticides, herbicides, insecticides or environmentally harmful fertilizers anywhere on our farm. Additionally, none of our animals are slaughtered, but we do use their products, such as eggs and honey, in our Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program.

“I have held multiple meetings at Mama Farm and the spaces were beautiful, clean and perfect for gathering people together and brainstorming solutions and networking. The staff at Mama Farm were easy to work with and very accommodating. The spaces were quiet and we were not disturbed while working, but also felt supported with whatever we needed. I appreciated being able to work immersed in Nature, which helped to keep us all energized through long conversations with multiple stakeholders to find solutions and how to best work together.”

– Jeff Lundwall Jeff, Board Treasurer & Finance Committee Chair Boys & Girls Club of the Bellport Area

“Mama Farm was the perfect location for our team’s retreat. We’re a small organization and really enjoyed having the Mama Farm B&B to ourselves and walking the grounds. We also loved exploring local attractions.”

-Sarah Moeller

“As a knitwear professor at Pratt Institute in the Fashion Design Department, I always try to root my lessons in the significance of a fiber’s origin and its inherent properties to the overall integrity of a garment. Just as the quality of the soil directly affects the taste of the vegetable harvested from it, and thus, the overall flavor of a meal, the quality of life of the sheep that produces the wool we use for knitting impacts the subsequent luxuriousness of a sweater. Much of this emphasis has been lost in higher-ed design curricula. We can see the negative effect this has had on the industry’s connection to sustainable sourcing and environmentally-conscious design. Mama Farm fostered the perfect opportunity for me to share and consult with my colleagues on these issues and spark valuable discussion. They created a lovely one-day experience for us, which included sheep shearing, an explanation of how the fleece becomes yarn, educational presentations from multiple experts and stakeholders, ending in the most incredible farm-to-table meal from produce grown on site. We all came away with a better understanding of how to orient our students to the vital component of sourcing and intentionality when creating a collection. We look forward to bringing students back to Mama Farm to share similar experiences with them and to help to foster the next generation of environmental stewards in fashion”.

COMPANY Team-Building Activities

At Mama Farm, company retreats are all about collaboration, creativity, and connection to Nature. Imagine a day where your team arrives on the Mama Farm to find hot coffee, tea and a light breakfast. After breakfast, the team is led to an area of the farm that is surrounded by wildflowers and woodland and there is a surprise yoga and meditation experience for everyone to partake in and open up creative channels. Your team returns to the B&B studio garage where we have set up comfortable working areas with cozy rugs and pillows, tables, chairs and everything needed to have a creative and productive brainstorming/work session. After a beautiful and healthy farm-to-table lunch, a farm tour is provided, including our forest trails and time with our animals. Free time is given to the team to recalibrate, get more work done, or bond with colleagues. During this time, our team can also work with you to create more curated free time such as a wool workshop, or deep dive into our beehives, or a meet-and-greet with Farmer Patty. Before leaving, we invite you and your team to immerse in our flower fields and create a beautiful bouquet to take a bit of Mama Farm home with you.  We are capable of events like this and so much more. We have hosted teams and provided knitting workshops, cooking classes and more.

Our creative team loves to brainstorm ideas about how to create the most unique and special experience that your employees and clients will remember forever. Sustainability & Environmental Stewardship

Mama Farm is a 5-acre regenerative farm in Brookhaven, New York, surrounded by conserved woodland, protected by a conservation easement in partnership with the Peconic Land Trust. Mama Farm’s mission is to promote conservation and biodiversity through our food offerings and programming. Our livestock – chickens, ducks, sheep, turkeys and goats – are all heritage breed (endangered breeds) and many of the vegetables cultivated on our land are heirloom seeds (endangered vegetables). Mama Farm endeavors to preserve and celebrate the heritage of our local environment and Mother Nature herself – the Mama on whom we all depend.

In addition to our livestock and the vegetables we grow and cultivate, we also plant countless wildflowers and pollinator gardens to support the essential work and contributions of butterflies, bees and other pollinators.

Additionally, none of our animals are slaughtered, but we do use their products, such as eggs and honey, in our CSA shares. In August 2023, we launched our first wool capsule collection in collaboration with Moda Operandi and Aisling Camps. Our farm-to-fashion wool couture collection was covered by media such as Women's Wear Daily and Vogue. The reception to our capsule collection was incredibly positive and it sold out almost immediately.

Mama Farm loves to collaborate creatively with companies and we do so often. We would love to discuss opportunities for how we can collaborate together to create a corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative in collaboration with the farm and our mission to conserve and steward land responsibly through regenerative agricultural practices
